I just got a new 2006 f350. I was wondering if there is any mufflers that will enhance the turbo whistle. I will be gutting the cat. Id love to get a MBRP cool dual but im short so ill have to settle for a muffler for now. Any suggestions? i dont want anything with a loud rumble more of a whistle and sounds nice when you give it gas.
IMO it would be better to get the CAT delete pipe. This way you can take your stock cat out and still have it in case you need it for any reason. A lot of people that have gutted their cat have reported a horrible drone afterwards. Not to mention if you do need it later, they are VERY expensive.
true about the expensive replacement part. i gutted my cat on my 04 6.0 and it never droned. lol mybe i was just lucky. lol. can i just use a mbrp delete cat pipe on my stock system? Also would the Ford 4 Inch Aluminized Turbo Back Exhaust System sound the same as the more expensive stainless steel kits etc.

Don't Gut your CAT...It won't work the same as a CAT Delete pipe and you will always have the stock CAT. The Gutted CAT's don't provide a smooth flow like the CAT Delete pipes do for the exhaust.
Agree....a gutted cat causes turbulance. You will not see any increase with the duals. They look great, but performance it will not add. A MBRP 409 system with a cat delete plus the free flowing muffler that comes in the kit will give you great turbo whistle. If you want more, you can also add a muffler delete pipe.
The MBRP 409 systems are a great value, and MBRP just sent us an email that they have raised the warrenty on these systems to 10 years.
Will a straight pipe system throw any error codes or will the check engine light come on? If it does, can my superchips tuner correct it? A friend of mine added an intake and the banks cat back duals and his check engine light came on.

I had and Alumanized catback no muffler on my 04, and I have a stainless MBRP no muffler on my 06. I like the sound of the 06 a little better. Seems to whine a little more, and the rumble under acceleration is over a wider range of RPM. I don't know if the difference in model year makes any difference. I have a cousin with an 03 completely straight piped, no cat or anything. The turbo wine is really loud, but so is the rumble. I think it might be too much even for me, although the turbo whine would be nice. There is a truck that lives down the street that has a lot of whistle, but not much rumble. I will try to ask him what he did to his truck. I like the MBRP Cat Back no muffler. It really sounds nice, and looks good too! Good luck, Levi
I'd love to go offroad mbrp but NY is making all trucks that can tow over 10,001lbs get a dot number and they can check the trucks and all kinds of crap. So i dont wanna get pulled over and have them see im running offroad and get a niec fine etc. so ill prolly stay legal for now.

First of all let me say "please forgive me for asking what are probibly stupid questions" Thanks......
ok now... what does MBRP stand for?? what do you mean when you talk about a cat-delete pipe or muf-delete pipe?????
And if i am able to understand what is being said... do these "delete" pipes or some of the set-ups y'all are talkn about mean that your running a "strait" pipe system. I would think that if thats what your doing you might be taking one heck of a chance..... im sure that in alot of states they getting "**** retentive" about smog and emitions... plus if your running these "strait" pipe systems.. wouldnt it make it harder to get your truck to pass emitions when or if you need to when it comes time for new tabs?????
please be gentle with your replies... im still stumbling with my new diesel... thanks....
Yes you have the right idea. A cat delete pipe would just be a straight pipe that would replace your cat. And a muffler delete would also be a straight pipe. The nice thing is you can add your cat or muffler at anytime by just removing your delete pipe. I do not know what MBRP stands for so im also in the dark on that one. lol. About emissions. I do not know what other states do for emissions but here in NY you can get away with straight pipes on emission. Only if its a diesel truck. Cars will set off codes and then when they plug into your computer and DMV sees that you have a check engine light on or you have emission issues you will not pass. But on trucks they dont hook u up to the computers so you can get away with it. Im quessing here in NY they will be checking diesels pretty soon. Hope that helped

In Texas they also don't do emmision checks on diesel pickups but I think it's against Federal law to tamper with any vehicle emission system. I don't know how well that's enforced state-to-state but again in Texas, any officer can conduct a vehicle inspection on the roadside if he chooses.
In Colorado you aren't suposed to remove the cat, but mufflers seem to be okay. I know they (police) are cracking down on noise pollution. Mostly rice rockets and motorcycles. I have had 3 trucks without mufflers with no problems. I also have farm tags, so I don't have to go through emissions. I have been told that no muffler won't affect the emissions, not sure about the cat. I really like how the 6.0 sounds without the muffler, even more so the MBRP on my 06. Have fun, Levi
