The problem with 85 psi fuel pressure is you are putting more pressure than the o rings on the injectors are designed to handle. Ford has been very adamant that 75 psi is the maximum safe pressure.
Regards
Understood, there was a thread a couple months ago where we were all going back and forth about fuel pressures and spring mods and there effects on the injectors. I know I may be running a risk that will cost me later, but I'm just pigheaded. A few guys have recommended the BB mod, others have talked that down. Ford also has a stiffer spring kit for $65. It comes with a stiffer, longer spring, several O rings that cannot be used and a new plunger and housing cap. I bought it too and after comparing the springs went with the GDS. I have not had any injector issues to date but if the increased pressure leads to an early demise for them, I'll upgrade to 70HP injectors and base the new fuel pressure off of that manufacturers suggested maximum. I would think that since Gillett Diesel offers the springs their injectors should be able to take that kind of pressure.
I'll be running the GOGO manifold soon. I will be using an up-pipe that I had welded shut so removing the EGR junk won't be a problem. It's one of the better kits out there and the pricing is in-line with others that modify the manifold.
When you go into limp mode does the exhaust seem to smoke alote for awhile?I unhooked my batteries, unplugged my egr removed throttle plate today ran good for 20 miles no weeping coolant, no smoke then all of a sudden alote of blue white smoke for 5 miles (no coolant smell). went home Plugged the egr back in replaced throttle plate in 20 miles no smoke and puking a little coolant out of bottle again. oh did notice more oil in the tube than i found when i first took intake tube off.
I have only experienced limp mode once (Bad date and to many beers) Oh you meant the truck haven't been there either but it sounds about a much fun except for the beer.
Seriously been communicating with vendors and they state that EGR delete will not put the turbos in limp mode but will throw cel's on 2005 on up. As others have stated custom tunes will get rid of the cel's.
I have a 2005. Last year I put a plug in where the EGR valve goes. When I removed the EGR, I did not throw a code, but my boost would not go higher than 20psi, essentially limp mode. I plugged the EGR valve back into the harness and zip tied it to the top of the engine. Everything ran fine after that.
For the last three months I noticed my coolant level very slowly lowering in the degauss bottle. Last week I parked my truck overnight with the rear end inclined up at about 8 degrees. The next morning I removed the plug (where the EGR valve should go) and found wet soot and small amounts of coolant. I ordered the Sinister EGR delete kit and plan on installing it this weekend. As long as I leave the EGR valve plugged into the harness, on my year, all should be fine.
