Here's my story.....Truck was in for head gaskets. While it was in I did some reasearch on this subject. I talked with a gentleman from Elite who said it would be foolish not to install an egr block off plate while the cab was off. (2004) This is my thinking.....How pissed would I be if my truck still puked after installing new gaskets and studs? Insallation of this product should solve any flash boiling issues. Performance gains aside useing a block off or a sneaky pipe on 05-07 models along with studs should almost guarantee that my truck will not puke, even while tuned. I think my truck has less lag now but after not driving the truck for the 2 weeks it was in the shop it's hard to tell. One thing I can say for sure is that the motor is not as loud as it was before. Hope this helps.........
Depending on the MY truck you may get a CEL and code with the EGR deleted. An SCT will "cure" the EGR CEL by removing the actual EGR operation from the PCM.
I have found the truck responds better when moving from a stop or while on the highway.
Installing a modded up-pipe isn't too difficult, you just need about 2-3 hours (max) and some basic hand tools. Some have found removing the passenger side wheel well liner helps. You should remove the downpipe to have better access as well.
I know this is an old post but what all is involved in doing this? is their anything that is disconnected and needs to be reconnected once I do this? anyone have pics of this being done? What is involved in doing the sneaky pipe? does anything else need to be blocked off?
