Which coolant filter should I get?

Ford Superduty Powerstroke 2003-2007 6.0L Coolant Filter Kit

http://www.dieselsite.com/index.asp?...ROD&ProdID=324

They look about the same other than one comes with more filters and is more expensive.

I am not going to do the EGR cooler delete so I am thinking I need a coolant filter. Am I right thinking that?

Are there any others that are as good for less money?

Thanks

Somewhere on here is a guy that kludged his own from Home Depot plumbing parts.

If you are doing this as a "bypass" filter that is in parallel... it is not that critical.

Maybe he will chime in.

I didn't mind DIY, but I will need some detailed instructions and pictures.

Putting together your own kit is easy. I found the filters and filter base online. The rest of the stuff can be found at Home Depot or Lowes. Im waiting on my stuff that I ordered to come in. PM me if you would like the info on the place I found the filter and base.

The kits you linked too look so similar ai wonder if one is a repackaged version of the other. The mounting brackets for the filter base look identical. I thought about assembling my own kit. I changed my mind after doing some research here. Most guys that have tried the self made kit ended up with in $20 of the Dieselsite kit and had to do a lot off chasing. I ordered the complete Dieselsite pkg and 3 filters that arrived at my door for $165.00

Regards

That is what I am starting to wonder. I live an hour from the nearest Home Depot. I may go with the Dieselsite and call it good. But I am going to keep reading in the meantime.

I have done them for under $60. Base and filter from local IH dealer for under $40 and a few fittings from Lowes or HD.

If anyone is doing a DIY kit, I have a TON of extra AUTHENTIC 3/8'' goodyear HEATER hose. Its nearly impossible to find, so I ended up with a 50ft roll of the stuff.
