Plumbing > Valves > Ball Valves > Valve,Mini Ball : Grainger Industrial Supply

And heres a link to grainger for the same valve but in a kit that comes with different handles (which is what I bought cause i wanted to see what the different handles were)
Plumbing > Valves > Ball Valves > Mini Ball Valve Kit,3/8 In NPT M x F : Grainger Industrial Supply

I decided to go with the kit that had the 3 handles in it so that I could find the one I liked best. The guy at grainger said the valves are the same valve.

All in all, I figure Ive got about 50-60 bucks in my coolant filer kit and its identical to what you buy at dieselsite.

Heres some pics of my coolant filter with the valves and hose barbs put on:

Where did you get the filter housing?

Boo_Daddy: Nicely done -- show us your bracket too and what did you end up finding for the T's, particularly the large one off the heater hose that goes to the filter?

Thanks!

ljutic: I got my filter housing off of ebay. Its a Baldwin part. The part number is CFB5000. Theres a guy that sells them on ebay, just submit an offer to him and he will counter I got mine for less that what his Buy it now is

Diesel_Dan: I am still working on my bracket. Somehow I have lost my dang drill bit case and I dont have any drill bits hahahahaha. I am gonna pick some up tomorrow hopefully so I can drill the holes. Slowmans hooked me up with the dimensions. Once I get the mount all done I will post up some pics with measurements.

As for the Tee fittings I picked them up at home depot. They are solid brass, and are used for poly water lines.
I found a solid 1/2 tee for the degas bottle line and I found a neat little 3/4 x 3/4 x 1/2 tee that im hoping will work. the 1/2 side is a little bit bigger than the 3/8 hose I have, but Im hoping that with a little bit of vaseline and elbow grease it will go on.

I found them at Home Depot and they are named brand QestPex, and are meant for their poly water line systems, but Im thinking they will work ok with coolant filters

Heres some photos of the Tee's:

<table style="width:auto;"><tr><td><a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/XwvNyevbrRLdEZ1RBSSd3A?feat=embedwebsite"><img src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_qETGDInSB7Q/SZHs4k1NI/AAAAAAAAAqM/TYBFGhmRE6E/s400/DSC02068.JPG" /></a></td></tr><tr><td style="font-family:arial,sans-serif; font-size:11px; text-align:right">From <a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/boodaddy/F250CoolantFilter?feat=embedwebsite">F-250 Coolant Filter</a></td></tr></table>

And heres a picture of the 3/4 x 3/4 x 1/2 tee closeup:

Boo_Daddy: Those are the fittings I have, I called them TEK but PEX is what they're really called -- yes they'll be tight, so I'm reeeeal interested in how yours goes. Not sure what size mine are, so I need to check. I used a mic to measure the outside of he metal part of the heater line and that one is close, and all my hose to/from the filter base is 3/8" and that side of the heater T is tight too -- the rest is like yours.

Though I paid closer to $5 for my valves and more on the eBay base (he wasn't as nego. back then...) So I'm at a higher cost than you by a fur piece...

good work!

Cool. I am hoping to have some free time this weekend to get it all installed. Just a quick question, which of the heater hoses is the high side? I am pretty sure I know the right one, but not 100%. I have a manual so I dont have the trans dipstick to go by.

I have a metal hose that comes from the front of the block. then 90's to the passenger side and couples to a rubber hose. The rubber host is about 8 or 10 inches, then it goes to a little valve looking thing (heater control valve??). Is that the hose I am needing?

that's the right one, if I'm reading your description correctly. To clarify: it's the line IN to the heater you want, and all the piping/control valve is on the passenger side; the OUT of the heater line makes a quick squiggle in a rubber hose and runs along the firewall in a metal line. BeachBumCook had some great pictures of the connection as I recall.

HEY! I just went out and checked my fittings -- I think your 3/4 x 1/2 PEX T will be too small on the big line side (hose too big for it to fit snug on T). I re-checked with my mirometer and the steel heater hose is .76 of an inch OD. I have a 1" x 1/2" PEX T and the OD of the ribbed section is .85 to top of rib and .82 at the bottom on the large side. Just like the 1/2 PEX is a bit bigger than a 3/8" normal pipe size fitting (tighter), I think you want a 1" PEX to match the 3/4" hose's ID to make it snug.

Do you have a Mic to check your fitting? Might want to stop by Home Depot and pick up a 1"x1/2" T before you cut the line. BTW: I was planning to use needle nose vise grips to clamp off the heater hose on both sides of where the T is to go during the "operation"

Let me know what you find and how it goes...

Thanks Dan! I will stop by Home depot and pick up a 1 x 1 x 1/2 PEX tee on the way home tomorrow just in case. I havent checked with my micrometer, but I am betting money that I will need that 1x1x1/2. Thanks for letting me know!!

I plan on posting pics of the mount along with measurements for the holes and stuff once i get it done.

I figure I might end up with about 75 bucks in the install. and I will get to shop around and find the hardware I want. I deal with an industrial supply house on a daily basis and they have a HUGE selection of plumbing stuff, so I think I might can find some cool looking valves.

I kinda like doing stuff like that...lol. Making the bracket will be cool.
Hey Boo Daddy where or who is this mysterious person on e-bay when I looked up coolant filter bases/baldwins cbf5000. I got nothing on the baldwins and only 2 hits on the coolant filter base. I tried international but I have to have a part number. thanks ahead for the info!!

This is a good deal, different base you have to make a bracket for, but it'd work and it has 4 filters!!! eBay item # 370154644667 be sure to check that filter number to be sure it has no additives, which would kill your 6.0...

for the CFB5000 search eBay for "coolant filter" and look down in the eBay Stores, the guys store name is Complete Filtration...

Sorry Justforfishing... I havent had a chance to finish my project. Every weekend I get, i always have something come up that knocks me out of finishing up the install.

Those fittings Maxium4x4 posted are SWEET!!! I may end up swapping mine out
The 3/4 x 3/4 x 1/2 tee I picked up at Home Depot is definately a little to small to be used.

Diesel_Dan gave me the correct one to try (1 x 1 x 1/2 ). It looks like this one would be a better, tighter fit, so you might want to pick it up. The good thing about home depot... you can take whatever you dont use back for a refund. So pick up both sizes and take the one that fits the worst back.

When I do my install, I am planning on taking lots of pics and posting them up. Hopefully I will be able to do it this weekend if the weather co-operates
