Cudaguy, I like your idea. And from the way I'm looking at it, your idea would help seal better than the stock box. Here's why.......the stock air box lid has a channel that the bottom of the air box rides in. When the lid didn't seat on the lower box correctly it #1 left a gap above the air filter, even though the bolts tightened. And #2 had a tendancy to want to crossthread the keeper bolts because it was crooked.
Your solution eliminates the alignment groove and applies the lid directly to the filter no matter what. However, you would always need to have the filter sitting correctly when tightening it down.
I say good job man, that's thinking "outside the box". Rep sent.
I appreciate the responses, and I hope this helps someone save some money. I will do the same to the bottom part of the box this weekend. What does Rep sent mean?

Reps are a way to indicate you thought someones post was helpful. You can rep someone by clicking on the heart in the upper right corner of that post. The heart has a green blob on it and we call that a "green bean". You might of noticed just below your post # you have 1 green bean. When you get 100 rep points you will get a second green bean and so forth. When you click on the heart you can type some information indicating why you think the post was good. At the top of this thread if you click on "User CP" you can see how many point you have and who gave them to you.
first welcome to the FTE.
second Id suggest you when possible in the future to open a NEW THREAD with your questions and not to hijack the thread. Here I think you are on topic.
third: other cheap mod other than th 10kmod mentioned for fordpride, is the IDM mod but risky.
four: you can use the SEARCH tool, but its not working at it should be IMHO.

I wasnt refering to you my friend. And it was just a suggestion for our in this forum for future interventions or questions: bicmacpowerstroke. I also didnt want to bother anybody.
there was a write up done a little while ago that shows the exact dyno'd power and torque of each resistance level. But each truck acts differently to the mod so it is more a guide to what you could see. I believe is was written by IDMooseMan, I will try and pull it up but I have to go to class so I might not be able to do it till later.
