Bye Bye Excursion.....the Tribute Thread. Sad day.
I'm sad to post that i have recently sold my beloved vehicle....the Ford Excursion.
I cant say enough about how good this truck was; Absolutely amazing in the snow, could pull absolutely anything, and reliable as hell. The V10 Engine was solid as a tank and never once let me down. This was hands down the most enjoyable vehicle I have ever owned to drive.
Looks like you had a lot of good times in that thing - what did you get to replace it? Seeing the cars on the trailers brings back happy memories of track events! I had a CSP Miata - was an absolute blast on track.
Why did I sell? Honestly It was time. Little things here and there (common ex things: paint flaking, door lock actuators, exhaust manifold studs breaking). Nothing was really wrong with it but I wanted to get out before anything did go wrong and i put any more milage on it and would have a harder time selling it.
For what i needed it was the most practical thing ever.
I haven't replaced it yet, but looking to get into an F250 or F350. The 6.0L's scare me though.

They didn't scare me. In fact, I searched for 3 months, then drove 300 miles sight unseen to pick up my 6.0 with 165k-mi. Diesel was $6/gal. I traded in my 98 Expedition. I have absolutely no idea what I'll get next other than the F650 XUV conversion. That's quite a few years off, so I'll take my 6.0 to 400k or so. So long as the engine doesn't blow up before then, something like exhaust studs, door actuators, and other misc, are much cheaper than a new vehicle, especially a new-used vehicle, which I don't know the exact history of. I know mine is awesome, because I know everything about it. Don't discount them so quickly, they can be quite reliable beasts as many can attest to.
And my Jeep Grand Wagoneer didn't go into Manual 4WD so I got a good deal and it only needed a cotter pin in the linkage.........drove it another 10 years with no problems.
Hope you don't regret it. I've had my 00 for seven yrs. It's part of the family now. With 192,000 miles on it ,no one is going to give me anything for it. It still drives like the day I got it. Other than the crappie leather (?) on the seats I'm totally happy with it. Plan on giving it to my son (23) when I done with it. He took it to his prom .
