fuel milage

Hi all,

I have an 05 KR with the 6.0 diesel and getting ready to do upgradws to increase fuel milage. Now getting 10-12 in town driving, 17-18 hiway empty and 12-13 towing 10k trailer in hills.

Can anyone tell me what to expect in gains with the following:

1. K&N cold air system.

2. Elinmanating the cat.

3. Adding a programer ( which would be the best?).

Adding more power would be nice without causing any engine problems but is not a neccesity as it has enough power now (its a Ford).

I have your same setup 05 F350 KR CC 4x4 6.0 3.73 and get about 18-20 hwy at around 65mph and between 12-14 towing a horse trailer (from 7.5 to 10K) while running PowerService Grey bottle

Only mods are 4" magnaflow exhaust and air raid: all done by the previous owner, we also have a camper shell.

What kind of tires are you running? I have the stock Contis, but a more aggressive tire might decrease your mileage by 1mpg or so.

Your not going to gain much in mileage with those mods. I wish it was that simple!!!

my setup

I have 275/65R/20 tires not aggresive. 3.73 danas positrac. Truck is completly stock.

You should consider changing gears...do a search ...lots of good reading on rear end gears.

what's your altitude?

my figures are mostly at sea level or 2-3K elevation, if you live at higher elevation the engine will have less power and hence work harder

I'm at 5000 feet in southern NM and lots of hills and mountains. By the way I have a 4x4. After reading posts and talking with other 6.0 owners I guess my milage pretty much in lin with others.
