hey guys i was wondering if any of yall had any reasons for poor fuel mileage im only getting like 12.5. i have a 1994 f-250 4wd 7.3 IDIT 134,500 miles new tranny....i bought this truck about 3 weeks ago....i thought that i would be getting better mileage than 12.5 any clues? please let me know....i have installed a k&n drop it air filter 1 week ago so the air filter is good and also added some Diesel kleen to the fuel to clean the injectors.
Is that city or highway driving? I have a '93 4x4 Crew Cab Long Bed 7.3 IDI with a Garrett Turbo and I get about 11-13 on a normal day (winter though too), In the sumer I ususally get 13-15 city and the best I've had is 19 highway. These diesels are better than gas engines, but it's still a 7000 lbs truck and you cant really expect good fuel mileage. If its highway you might have a bad injector or somethin, but if its town, thats about what mine is gettin.
i do mostly highway driving like 60-70 miles round trip at 65-70mph. and the title said it only weighed like 5500lbs not saying anything bad about you or nothing also i got the stock turbo on it as well anything else you wanna know just let me know thanks

rear gears i have no clue.....dunno if you can tell by this but when im doing 65 im at 2200rpms.....yes the muffler is still on but i plan on taking it off and putting on 5 or 6 inch stacks
yeah, my bad. my truck is 5800 lol. only 1200 lbs off. Do you have large tires or anything? I have the stock tire size and no lift. I only get 9-11 if I drive like I normally do, but I have a new engine too and it's not broken in, so no pedal to the metal fro now. But yeah, get your exhaust system checked out or look at it yourself too. I had an '02 escape that got 11 in town and I had a bad cat. converter and my mileage dropped to 9 mpg.
my truck or his truck? lol. IF ur talkin to me, my truck barely smokes at all. I'll put the pedal on the floor and there's a little (very little) black smoke for 1 or 2 seconds, but I think that's pretty normal.

oh, haha, sorry i didnt specify who i was talking to.
nevermind on my last post. But anyway, you're running 2200 at 65? i usually go 60-65 and I'm at 1600-1800 rpm's (depending on acceleration), I have 3.55's

oh, so my sticker lied. lol
im not surprised, the truck was in a accident while towing a goose neck trailer before i bought it so alot of crap was changed out and fixed.
4.10 gears with E4OD at 2200 RPM should be going 70 MPH if it has 235/85-16 tires on it.
Same truck, same tires with 3.55 gears would turn 1900 RPM at 70 MPH.
So if your reading are much different, speedo error would add a couple MPG.
When the fuel goes from winter fuel to summer fuel, you will gain a MPG or two also.
Diesel 4x4 truck under 7000 pounds, I find that hard to believe.
Two wheel drive, a bit over 6000 I would go for.
Mine is right at 8000 pounds on certified scales full of fuel and me not in it.
Yes mine is a bit heavier with the dump flatbed, but not that much heavier.
