I have a 79 f 150 custom. The seat belt no longer retracts. Does anyone know where to get replacements? I have found tons of universal ones but none that mount the retractor up in the wall like the factory ones. HELP!
i've been looking as well, my belt won't retract on the drivers side either, and the belt feels kind of crunchy. hope someone else will chime in where to get shoulder belts from.
It might not solve your problem, but the belts are very easy to disassemble and check the internal spring to see if it just came undone or needs to be rewrapped.
Nobody makes a direct replacement, so your options are to go with used ones from a junkyard or buy the ones I did and make them work. Check out the thread I posted and you'll see my source for belts and the procedure for installation along with pictures.
Hope that helps. Let me know if you have any questions.
The last time I was in the junker, there was ONE truck I saw with shoulder belts, if I wasn't one to put a positive example for my kids I'd offer mine up, since I hate seat belts myself, I'll see if I can't grab em, and if I find another I'll grab them both for you guys.
it's not the proper weather to go today, I'll go here in the next week, but I'll try ASAP.
There are a couple companies that offer seat belt solutions. The one I went through offered both lap and 3-point shoulder belts, and came with a couple different options on buckles. If you google "Retrobelt", I'm sure their site would come up.

They don't offer anything that works for standard cabs, just supercabs. The belts are completely different. Standard cabs have 2 mounting points, supercabs use 3 mounting points. It's very easy to find belts that will work for a supercab, as that's the way shoulder belts are usually mounted.
