I am getting ready to replace my FICM due to hard cold starts and the fact that it reads only 29.5 volts with engine idle. Once the new FICM is in, I want to get the latest flash Ford has for my 04 250. My current strategy is VXBC9N8 and was last updated in August of 2009. Is this the latest flash, or is there an update out there. I plan on having a tune written for the SCT, but I only want to do it once. Can anyone with an 04 or one of our great techs (cheezit ) help out here??

Welcome to FTE. You might want to post your question on the f150 page for your model year. This section is for the 6.0 diesel trucks. You will get a better response there. Again, welcome!
Hello hndacr, I'm in the same position as yourself with the same XVBC9N8.hex PCM code as you. My F250 superduty is a 2004 build March 2004 2 wheel drive. The programmer I'm looking at is the SCTx3 with three programs. If someone knows what strategy version the FICM killer code is please let us know as we may have to update our strategies to avoid the killer code. Thank you in advance.
while we are on the topic my strategy is VXAP2N2 is there a way to change your strategy or does it stay the same after a reflash i dont really understand the whole strategy thing
To topdrive. My first Flash was 2006 VXBC5NA reflashed to VXBC9N2 in April 2006 then reflashed Dec 2009 to the current flash VXBC9N8. This is what my Autoenginuity reads, it is a hex file. I'm not sure what they mean exactly but I believe that different model years of trucks will have different flash codes to address different engine configurations. I think that I will find out in the long run that Ford Motor Company is the only true source for flash information. We will have to go to them and have them read the information on their machines. Then we can only hope that the service department has upgraded their flash machines to the latest firmware!! I'm still looking for a true answer to this flashing mystery. I hope someone out there will enlighten us.
