How can I check my ICP sensor on a 2000 7.3? I have read to un-plug it while it's running and if it dies it's bad and if it stays running the computer is compensating for it....are there any voltage readings or parameters I can monitor with a OBDII scanner or? Thanks for any info in advance, Fred
You can monitor ICP, voltage, and IPR duty cycle with a Powerstroke compatible diagnostic tool. Generic OBDII scanners do NOT work on these trucks.
Beat me to it Curtis...
If you know someone that has an SCT programmer, you can defnitely monitor the ICP as well as a few other PIDs using the Livelink software, a USB cable, and a laptop with Windows XP.
The engine I wouldn't say is running rough it is just boggy or sluggish to get rolling....the ICP connector is oily....I am told if and when they are oily they are bad.....I cleaned it drove 40 miles and it's oily again....Fred
I am going to go ahead and get a new sensor.....as far as boost leaks when I scanned and got readings while driving it showed between 14 and 16# of boost, the truck is all stock except for the baldwin large round air filter and straight pipe, it may just be me but my 95 OBS that I traded in was more responsive, it may have been chipped or tuned I don't know as I bought it used also, just trying to make sure this 2000 is running correctly, I haven't done a fuel mileage check on it as the weather has been cold and figured I would wait until temps were better, I will do that check soon as temps are better now....above 50 lately so I should do that...fred
