Exaust problems

I have a 1976 ford with a 390 in it and I am having problems with exaust leaks around the manifold. I have replaced the gasket many times. I was wondering what some of you have done to fix the problem.

Make sure the mating surface is clean on both the manifold and the head, try using a grinder to get off all extra gasket and if worse comes to worse just buy some headers

Flowtech 12540 Flowtech Headers
should fit your truck

I took my manifolds to a machine shop and had them ground to be sure they were flat and true. It was a little expensive but they have zero leaks.

You probly don't want to hear this but after 34 years of use with rust and leaks sometimes both the mating surfaces - manifolds and heads - need to be milled in order to seal well. Short of that, cleaning both surfaces really well and applying a little hi temp RTV to the gaskets might help.

I had mine surfaced and then installed with red silicone.

They leaked again _ a little.

Minute Muffler shop said the silicone had gone out and to use two gaskets next time.
