Is My Starter Dead?

I have a '76 F150 with a 390, C6 and Heddman Headers. For a while, the starter has been cranking REALLY slowly. Now it's to the point where it won't even start. The headers are actually touching the side of the starter, so I imagine they've fried it (even though the headers have been on for about 6 years with no issues). I don't want to yank the starter unless I have to, since it's impossible to remove without taking off the header. I did a voltage drop test & when the cable is disconnected from the starter, it shows 12v when I hit the ignition. As soon as I connect the cable back to the starter, it shows 5v. No matter where I test it on the cable or the solenoid, it shows 12v when it's disconnected from the starter and 5v when it's hooked up. Does that mean my starter is fried or could it be something else? If it does mean my starter is fried, what mini starter will fit with headers (since the mini starters actually look like they're bigger diameter than the stocker)? Thank you so much for your help!
