I'm really looking forward to take delivery. The waiting begins!
Does anyone else have an '03 ordered. If so, what has your dealer given you for an ETA?
When I get the pricing, I will post it here.
I do have some questions on a couple of options if anyone can help.
1. The In-Dash Navigation System come back on the DORA as a Navigation Radio (Code 58F). Does anyone know what all this option consist of?
2. (Code 47T) Advance Trac w/Non-Limited Slip & Message Center. The vehicle is a 4X4 but I'm not sure how the Advance Trac works in conjunction with the 4X4. Any Help?
I have some time to delete or add any of the options. I was just looking for some feedback if anyone has some info.
Thanks, Dan
Wow!!
Dan you cancelled an Excursion to get an Expy?!?! :-X23 And the first year production at that?! Man, you got some stones!!!
I'm afraid my dealer has relatively no allocation for Excursions, (He won't admit it). I know he's got allocation for Expeditions. I'm sure going to miss my PSD. My next lease may be a 6.0 PSD X? Anyway I know I'll be looking forward to the super smooth ride on the '03 Expedition.:-)
Tell you what...if it is anything like the '02 Explorer! I had one as a loaner for a week. The thing was a canyon carver!! I was extremely impressed with it's handling. Since the Expy is gonna have the same basic setup (IRS) then I'm sure it's gonna be a stellar road truck! Good luck with it!

I went to order a 2003, but realized that the four corner load leveling suspension is going to be a an option as "late availibility" as Ford likes to call it. This is an option that is worth waiting for if you plan to tow or get a 4x4.
I called Ford and spoke to one of the Expedition Media people and they could not give me a date but took my name and number and said she would call as soon as it was known (pretty impressed).
This suspension is supposed to make the ride even better in all terrains. It does what the current air suspension does, i.e., lowers itself an inch when engine off, up an inch extra when in 4x4 low, and levels the vehicle for better towing.
I had it on my '97 and it was the coolest. So, if anyone is going to get a 4x4 this year, you may want to wait.

If your questions can't be answeared in the link below, I don't know where you'll find out about the Navigation and Advanced Trac.
This link is to the Ford Press Kit and I don't know if I've read the whole thing yet(pretty long and detailed). I assume that the Navigation System will be that same as the Lincoln Navigator's. You might check some Navigator reviews to see if that helps. It does talk about the 4x4 and the advance track working together.

Also, click on the "Photos" and sign in and get a PW and you will get some 100+ awesome Magazine quality pics of the 2003.
The powertrain consist of 5.4L engine, 4-spd auto trans, 3.73 axle, 4X4, & Advanced Trac.
2002Expy,
Thanks for the link to the press kit. It has the most information I've seen on a single site!
I would like to have waited for the four corner load leveling, but as leases go I'm due to get in to somthing a little sooner than that.
Thanks, Dan
It appears that there may be one more benefit to waiting a little longer....HP. Rumors on this site say that the 3 valve motor (That is currently in the Navigator) will be an option later this year as well. This will put out 300+ HP instead of te 260 HP in the 5.4 now. Also, the new Desiel may be availible this time next year. I hate waiting but these options are so tempting!
I have a lease up on April 15th on this 4-Runner and have a 1999 Limited Explorer 5.0 V-8 AWD. I's like to move into the Expedition from the 4-Runner, but I need the Load Leveling. So, I think I'm going to get a new basic Camary and then try to sell my Explorer outright later in the year.

The Navigator has a DOHC 4 valve 5.4. That makes 300 hp. A SOHC 3 valve 5.4 would probably put out 270-275 hp (just my guess). Benjamin
>new information? What are you turning in on your lease?

2002Expy,
The only update I've got is the Tire Pressure Monitoring System was keeping it from being a buildable order, so I dropped it for now. If it happens to become available before scheduling I'll add it back in.
I'm turning in a 2000 Excursion Limited PSD 4X4, I love that truck but the Mrs. would like to downsize a bit. We had a '97 Expy before the Excursion, so we're not new to them.
As for pricing, I contacted my cousin in Detroit today, he said there wasn't any pricing available yet, but he expects it within the next two weeks. I'm currently looking for an auto show within 500 miles of me that will be showing the '03 Expy. Preferrably before mine is built!
Dan
