Ordered 2003 Expy
They had the 2003 here in Salt Lake City right after the Detroit Show. I didn't know it until it was over. A dealer I spoke to said that they shipped it straight from the Detroit show to SLC. Nothing on the show schedule showed it being there, it was unannounced. I could kick myself for not going. I found out that they had in on a rotating display, but you could not get close to it.
Too bad on the tire pressure thing. I read that and wonder if Ford did that just to curtail the concerns about the tires. Seemed a little gimicy to me. Speaking of tires, have you ever had any "Continental" brand tires they plan to make standard on the X? I wonder who makes them and where we will be able to get a replacement or service? Later...

Continental tires have been standard equipment on the Lincoln Navigator. My dad had them on his '99 Nav.(ContiTrac A/T 255/75-15) He had to replace them at 40k, but had to use the the Continental tire because tire size was too hard to match with other brands. I have seen where several Ford dealers are now also dealers for Continental Tire. Our local tire dealer can get the tire, but doesn't normally carry them. You can find more info and dealers at www.continentaltire.com

It seems the X will be getting several Navigator "hand me downs" over the next few years. It be great if the X this year had the power lift gate and running board like the new Navigator. I wonder if the plan is to introduce that to the X or keep it Navigator only. I suppose it depends on what GM plans. Chrysler alreay has the power lift gate on their Mini-Van (can we say those words on this site?)

Well, I guess Ford decided that if you can't beat the tire companies, you might as well join them. I hope these tires are better and that is why Ford is using them and not just to get away from Class Action lawsuits with the big name brands.
Only 40K miles? The Mich. Cross Terrains I just put on my '99 Explorer (Recall 16")have 60+K expected life. Seems a little short, but if it is good enough for the Navigator.....
Have you got any pricing yet? Your build date is supposed to be tommorrow. That would suck if you didn't know how much until it is already built.
Have they given you any updates? Did you find anything about the Navigation system? I found a dealer here in Salt Lake that will sell at $500 over invoice, no haggling, no hidden fees.
I may not wait for the load leveling. It depends on what the verdict is on the lead time for it. The production manager is supposed to get with me next week. I've been driving the media gal crazy, calling once a week. That media site I posted has her home phone, but I'm not that desparate....yet.
I'm thinking of either the Wedgewood Blue or the Estate Green for an EB with the same options you have.
No pricing yet!
Ford VOCP still shows that the vehicle is clean/unscheduled.
I did get some information stating that Ford will start building customer orders on Monday, March 19.:-)
I looked at the 2003 expy at the Kansas City Auto Show last weekend and talked with a product specialist about the Expy. The Navigation system is a Alpine/Audiofile in-dash system. It uses satellite comunications for on-board guidance and digital mapping to locate vehicle posistion. It gives you preferred map routes and live time destination guide using visual and voice instructions. I was also told it displays up 500,000 points of interest, gas stations, lodging, and shopping.
I stop by my dealer a couple times a week to check status and fill him in on the latest info since he doesn't get any info from Ford.
I'm not concerned about the price as I know the dealer will treat me right.
I'll let you know when I get a scheduled build date!

I've read some stuff in Blue Oval News, but never really looked at their message boards. This link is to the 2003 X Build Date questions.
This "Chad" says that don't expect them until June.

Keep up updated on pricing and delivery.
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
It has the 2003 MSRP Pricing of $33,570 to $47,655! Ouch.
2002 MSRP - $30,940 to $41,595 ($2,630 to $6,060 more)
It has a comparison to the Tahoe. Has anyone else got one of these or has anyone else been given pricing?
It had the same pricing as 2002Expy quoted, but no mention of the Tahoe. It did have my dealer information.
What Tahoe comparison did your brochure give you?
I have two dealers that are supposed to call when they get pricing, but I suspect I'll hear from you before that. You should be able to get $500 over invoice (that is what I have from one dealer).
On a 2002, the difference on the List and MSRP on a Loaded 4x4 EB is about $5,500 ($39,379 - $44,925)(including Destination). So if logic prevails, we should expect the Invoice for a loaded EB to be $5,500 less than the MSRP of $47,655 or $42,155. Add $500 over and tax and title and we will be looking at $45,000.
That sounds like a figure I could work with.
As of 3/26 vehicle is still clean/unscheduled, no VIN yet.
