Going back a bit to the conversation on smoke detectors.
Should the house have the smoke detectors wired into a central alarm panel (security system) then there would be a battery inside that master panel.
My battery is the size of a 3x5 file card box.

there Pete, what kind of mulch you making, like wood chip or pine bark, and are you chemically treating the stuff?
My mother once had us boys lug some home from a DOT road side pile where they were just grinding up tress and shooting the stuff into the wood.
Since it was untreated wood it rotted down in a year or two.

Dave the ones tied into an alarm system only last as long as the alarm battery in a power failure, about 4-5 days.
A hard wired smoke detector with a 9v battery in it will last a few months without power.
I think having both is the best way to go.

But then you have to look at all that crap on the ceiling. I think either/or is fine. When does the power go out for more than a few hours? Well, days it seems lately.

Yepper! I made it to Rogers.
Thankfully I follwed the MapQuest directions.
I came in by the long way around from the North.
Had I followed the road that leads up from the South I would have been in for a surprise.
When I got to the turn off for Roger's street I was staring at a Road Closed sign and a Dead End sign for the way I was intending to have come from.

Depends on how much you're willing to pay, Ken.
Dave it'll be colored but not treated in any other way. Mostly hardwoods but pretty much anything that we can get our hands on mixed together.
