I just bought a 2002 Excursion 4X4 with a 5.4 v8. I want to lift it 4 inches so I can run 33's on 16X10 rims. I was wondering if I can put 6 inch springs in the rear and remove the blocks and have a level vehicle. I see some EX's that look like they are sitting uphill right after being lifted and would rather have it level.
usually you would look for a lift that is 2" less in the rear if you want it to be level afterwards. You get the height you want with a 4" lift in the front and a larger block in the rear.
Depending on the backspacing, you may be able to run the 33's as-is. many folks here are running the 285/75/16 (33") on the factory wheel no lift.

To me that doesn't make sense when I see Ex's lifted the same on both ends and the rear is lower than the front. That is the look I am trying to avoid.;
I'd take the tape measure to yours as it sits now, see what your front to rear difference is. If yours is like most Ex's the fronts have sagged to nearly the stops. So when you consider your 4" lift - assuming it's 4" for an Ex and not an F250 - that will be 4" on top of where you springs should have been - so maybe 5" - some have gained 6" off a 4" lift - and you have the 5.4L too, so it will be a lot lighter than the 7.3
Do you have tires for the wheels yet so you can try fitting them now and see if they rub?
