I just noticed the other day that my rear heater doesn't work. I can have the heat blasting up front but only cold air will come out of the rear vents. I of course checked to make sure that my rear heater was turned all the way to heat and tried every setting without any luck. Any ideas as to what may be causing this problem?
There is an electrical motor that controls the blend door for the rear HVAC. They will quit working after a while. I just picked up a replacement for mine out of a wrecking yard. They are only about $60 new from Ford IIRC.
On the passenger side rear, ahead of the jack storage area is where the rear HVAC unit is. The motors are while and square held on with some 8mm bolts. I do not know which one is which but the other one controls the floor/ceiling door. Some simple testing will tell you which is which.
