1988 e250 axle code question

I am trying to locate a 3/4 ton axle with a very mild gear ratio for my project.I need to find out what a 33 axle code from an 88 e250 translates to.I was at the junk yard today and this van has no rear wheels .So I can not get under it to get any info.It is blocked i behind 10 other cars.So if I am going to make the guys dig it out. I want to make sure of what I am geting first.Thanks.

CODE 33 AXLE

According to a 1989 Econoline owners guide, code 33 is a DANA 6340#
3:54 RATIO.

Most have a tab on a bolt on the cover, it gives the gear ratio, what is it that you consider mild?

Thanks for that info.I am just fine on decoding the tag on the rear end.
The problem is it was buried at the junkard 5 cars deep and some genius robbed the rear wheels and put the axle on the ground. So I could not get to the tag.
I need a dana 61 from a e250. 1976-1986.There was an option for a 3.08 gear.
That is what I need. However the non u pull yard gets 800 for it.
My 1964 f250 has a 12v cummins and Allison at545.My d60 presently has 3.73 gears. With the non overdrive, non lock up trans and a 2200 rpm redline....52mph top speed! no good.
So you see I was hoping that van against the odds would get the job done.

Anything higher than that, will not get you better MPG but the opposite, you'll not be able to retain high gear.

torque at rpm doesn't seem to be the problem.
and with that setup, i doubt mileage is either...

The problem is with a 3.55 gear is it will only get 50mph top speed.
If I had a 3.07 at 2050rpm 60mph.The cummins 5.9 starts defueling @2k rpm.cummins range for towing is 1400rpm to 2200.3.07 will get me to a driveable range.

I believe torque will not be an issue.

Need to look into an OD trans, my cousin has a newer version to the 700R4 on his, think it's the 60 something. He has a new Allison in the shop, but not gonna pay what they want for the programing to run it. You could add an overdrive/under drive unit to your transmission too.

that would be great but I have an Allison AT545 auto.I have not seen anything to do an od add on .It does not have a typical removable tail housing. Also there is a drum parking brake on the rear because the transmission does not have a park paw.
I have a manual od trans but do not have the cummins to chevy adapter and they are about 700 used.I was hoping to score a 61 w 3.08 gear as it would be much cheaper. Also my wife is right that I would be sick of the stick in 3 days.
Torque multiplication will be ok as trans first gear is basically 4to 1 reduction.
