Hello. I plan to be buying a 2000 F250 V10 in a couple of hours.
I had my boss run by and take a picture of the door tag so I could determine the axle code. What he sent me was this:
Other than giving me the knowledge of how bad of a photographer he is, it doesn't tell me much else. The axle code area is blank, what gives? Am I just going to have to crawl under the truck when I get there after work?

Wow. More info that I would have ever expected. Thank you guys very much.
I did end up buying the truck today. It's a little bit of a basket case, as the speedo worked when I started the test drive and didn't by the time I got back. After the speedo quit, the OD Off light started blinking.
The owner said it started doing that after he changed the transfer case about 8000 miles ago. I'm now kind of wondering how he managed to break the axle and transfer case on this thing.
Besides that, just a bunch of little things:
Missing clip around air box
Check engine light
Truck almost seems like it will stall when put into gear but drives fine
Bad exhaust leak on pass side due to broken studs
Gonna pull codes and do some tinkering tomorrow after work. expecting bad/dirty sensors or vacuum leak at play here, maybe PCV.
Here are a few pics of the truck before we aired up the tires.

Looks good, Your speedo and flashing OD light are most likely due to the speed sensor on the rear axle, that is a real common problem, Might explaine the check engine and wanting to stall problem as well..

Do I need to make an adjustment or just buy a new sensor?
Thats a nice looking truck most 200's around here have gaping holes in the beds not just a little bubble. according to what Redford said the mirrors have been swapped unless it just ins't correct thats only the second SD i've seen with paddle mirrors.
Ok, I feel like I'm having one of those 1 + 1 = moments
This is what the axle tag under the truck looks like.
I know this isn't the original axle, and I know that not too long after he swapped the axle, he blew up the T-case.
Soo... That is a 4.10 tag right? If this is what I think it is, it looks like I have my work cut out for me this spring.
Not 4:10 the number on the bottom left where it say 73 means it is a 3:73 gear ration, I cant tell from the tag but if it has a L in front of the 73 then it is a limited slip 3:73..
When it comes it the VSS don't buy aftermarket, I have has many issues recently with them. Go to the dealer and get one, they are 33.00$ I went through 3 on my 96 and none worked until I put a MC one In.
