my friend bought a HID headlight conversion kit off of ebay. It came with everything, HID bulbs, ballast, new headlamp capsules. Nice looking stuff, other than the fact the idiot sent 05 style lights for a 99. Then I had to take pictures of the front of the truck and show how the headlights wont fit. To insult my intelligence even more, he had the gall to ask me if this was a F250 LIGHT DUTY and that the lights he sent wont fit a light duty truck. I quickly told him to look at the pictures again and if he could not tell the difference between a LD and SD, maybe he should let me talk to somebody that did.
Anyway,
Has anybody had a good experience with a HID conversion in their truck ? I have 03 style capsules in my truck and my friend has the original 99 style in his. Dont really care to change the capsules, but the HID bulbs sound nice. MY wifes car has HID and its nice and bright at night.
Here is the crap that was bought off of ebay that I cant find how to make fit a superduty without an hour or 2 with a sawsall.....

Well in the second paragraph of the description I saw where they snuck this in... "The HID kit may require modification for installation." They may already know this thing doesn't fit.
Did he get the whole 05 headlight assembly or just the HID stuff for the newer lights? The 05 headlights will work if you trim the header panel (a bunch).
it was everything, new headlights, a dual xenon style looking thing and a seprate HID conversion kit. This required removal of OE headlight capsule and turn signal housing. Lots of bulbs and extra parts to be left over. The problem was the MAJOR modification to make the new assemblies fit. From what I could tell, it looked like about 2 to 3 inches of header panel and the steel behind it had to come out to make room for the low beam bulb. That was not the problem as much as the assembly did not fit & finish well, there was a large gap between the assembly and the fender, starting from nearly perfect to about 1/2 inch, and no way to correct it.
After looking everything over, I think they were selling 05 style light assemblies and telling you that they are for a 99-04. I think it was a good idea, but not for me to hack another persons truck to a point of no return. Because once I removed enough header panel to get the new assemblies to fit, I would have removed some of the mounting and adjustment areas for the original lights.
