HID Options/Decisions

So I am looking into a well priced HID conversion kit. I have done some searching and asking around and these are the ones I came up with

I think I am going to go with the 10,000k's. i like the blue but Dont want it to be suuper blue.

On this first link, which bulb do I want. i know our trucks take the 9007, but the list here has a 9007-1 and a 9007-2. It looks like the 9007-2 has a second bulb. Maybe for lighting up the inside of your housing? or perhaps its for a low/hi?

And I have the DP F5 tuner. Word on the street is that I have to get these ferrite beads?...

I dont really know what these are and if they mean that I need to cut my dp tuner wire to splice them in you can count me out. I paid good money for that tuner and love it ha.

And here is the retro solutions one. What are your preferences on the kits and 10000k bulbs?

Also, I am thinking about getting a set of the stock fogs that everybody has other than the e99 guys ha. Anybody have a link? Or suggestions to other fogs that I could put HID's in? The stockers just seem to fit perfect.

BTW, here are my headlights:




I got them off of ebay and they are ok. I think they are the immitation 03's. They look awesome but they dont throw light like I thought they would and one of them has a little bit of moisture in it. Or it did the last time I checked. Any ideas on how to fix that?

Your input is appreciated. I would like to pull the trigger on one of these HID kits with bulbs included very soon.

And please post pics of what HIDs you have with the listed bulbs/ratings etc.

yeah i screwed up on that first link i sent you. you def dont want a kit with a piggy back halogen. they are worthless.

heres what i run in my excursion, expedition,my dads explorer and my f-250

Sweet. Thanks! So the 10000k's are too blue huh? I saw some pics of the 6000k's and they were juust barely blue, so the 8000k's might be the ticket for me.

also pics can make them look much different then what they do in person. 6-8k would be fine i've had/have both.

Ok cool. 8k's it is. The 10's dont look that blue on the chart but everyone says that they are super blue. Abouts how long did it take for you to get that kit in the mail?

Damn, you went all out equipping all of those vehicles. so you got that same kit for each one? (with different bulbs of course)

How long have they been on the vehicles? And are any in that pic 8000k? or are they all 6000k?

the expedition has a 8k 35w kit. the excursion has a 8k 55w kit. the rest are 6k.

the oldest kit i have from them is in my dads explorer and i bought that in January 2007.

sounds like they are pretty reliable then. I just hear not to buy them on "Fl-ebay" from some people. Your ex is in the center of that pic isnt it? Ya I like that color

its the second from the far right. yeah i've had great luck with this company. i think shipping takes about 10-14 days though....but thats to alaska.

I have bought several kits from DDMTuning.com and have been very pleased with the price, quality, ease of installation, and durability. I went with the 5000k bulbs because I wanted the absolute most usable light. Do what you like, but when I see the blue lights, I can't help but think "Oh boy, it's another wanna-be rapper punk with a coffee-can exhaust on a beater Civic"

As for the ferrite bead, yes, you'll need one for your DP. I put one on the cable from my DP and have had zero problems since. I bought a bunch extra, so if you PM me your address I'll send you a pair, though you'll likely only need to use one. Keep the extra for "just in case" or as one to share with another FTE brother or sister.

Sweet. Ya, it sounds like a lot of us are using DDM and I haven't heard any complaints. Not to mention they are much cheaper than the retro's and I havent heard any real reason why the retro's are better.

So if I go with ddm I just ask for the 9007 hi/lo set up in 8000k?

And although I do agree with you on the extra blue and other weird colors, I dont think that the 8000k is too much.

An as for the ferrite beads. Thanks! PM sending now! They look like they just clip right on huh?

So for the DDM one have options to choose from...

WATTAGE : 55W
BULB TYPE : WHICH ONE? 9007 HB5 -or- 9007 HI/LO (+20.00)
BULB COLOR: 8000K
HD HARNESS: DUAL IN DUAL OUT (DO I NEED THIS ????)
ERROR ELIMINATOR: TYPE 3 (+15.00) (DO I NEED THIS ????)
ADAPTER CABLE: H1/H7 TO 9006 (+8.00) (DO I NEED THIS ???)

Any input?

Bryce, I have the same new head lights, and after I installed them I read they are not to run HID's. Mine is to e99. So I didn't order them. It said they run to hot for the design. I also just read on your posted retro-Solution HID's that they run cooler then typical 55W HID's. You mit want to keep this in mine. Did you run the bulbs that came with the lights, I did and they are not bright. I have yet to put my other bulbs in. God Bless, Chet
