Well Rupe, you see its like this. A cop that stops your for speeding is more than likely going faster than you are to catch you. Right? Well when the xmas trees come on, I just grab it out of the door and start writing. Definitely a conversation piece when Gomer greets you at your window. I ask them how fast they had to go just to catch up with me. That usually doesn't get a very good response.
I used to be a reserve police officer. So that really does break the ice. I am slapped on the wrist and told to continue on. I tell them the only difference between their books and mine are the jelly doughnut stains on theirs act like good post it notes. Mine don't have that anymore...LOL
You know I never wrote a speeding ticket the whole time I was in LE. I just wrote stupid people tickets. I have been asked to give up my ticket book as it is not cool for a non-officer to have one. But I know where to get more....LMAO!
Over here we have what is called worksafe. They do the auditing of work sites to check for saftey compliance. A guy got pulled over for speeding by about 10 km/h. The cop wrote a ticket for $100 or something and the guy said nothing the whole time. When the cop was finished the guy said would he kindly go back to his vehicle and wait for him there. Once the cop was in his car the guy got on his high vis jacket, hard hat and clip board and went back to the cops car and gave him a ticket for failing to wear his high vis gear, no hat which is part of the uniform and as such must be worn at all times when outside of the vehicle and causing a traffic stoppage in an unsafe area. Total fine $980.00.
When i replaced my radiator, i learned that getting rid of my mechanical fan is a must, winter time with that thing tossing air around makes warmups take forever.
What did you replace the fan with? Warm ups in winter this sounds nice, but what else did this do for you? Why kind of fan? How did you wire it and mount it? Sorry for the questions you just really have my interest peaked.
I havent yet bro, those little *******s are expensive haha. I am looking at the flexalite fans. They make some good ones and i just need to get out in the truck and make some good measurements. I just dont want to make a mistake and wind up sucking in the summer because i bought too small of a fan. Probably i will get two smaller fans and mount them side by side with the stock housing in place. With them, you can set the kick-on temp so it wont even be on until it hits the set temp. I am still figuring but i will let you all know when it happens.
Wrecker check out the mark 8 lincoln fans they are a dual fan that will come on at different temps and supposedely move way more air than any aftermarket and sometimes can be found reasonable in wrecking yards. I personally know nothing about these except what I have read, but the big block rodders are using them supposedely with good luck.
i am on it! I think the only add would be the temp switch, i will see what i can find and pursue it. The JY's here on Vancouver island are slim but there are some good guys in the duncan area.
Wrecker you have to run relays because on high it pulls a lot of amps, so the articles said to use a 90 amp relay on the high side. If you do this let us know how it works. There have been many try electric fans but all that I have heard that worked their trucks went back to the mechanical fan. You can always install an exhaust brake for fast warmups and have that jake brake sound with your stack. lol
still waiting for dent side forum to answer figured you mite know i have a 67-72 front bumper from a 2 wheel drive but its 40 miles away and if it wont fit dont wana waste fuel

from my research, there isn't a good aftermarket fan (least not for practical $) that can keep up with the IDI's demands.
you need to hit the salvage yards and score the fans from cars with 3.8l like the taurus etc.some claimed to need two, while one guy claimed the first one hardly ever came on lol.they flow like 3800cfm i think it was.
two fit anyway,if you need 'em both.
the problem with the lincoln one,was VERY heavy startup amp draw.it doesn't appear to be needed, however this could depend on the use of the rig of course.
if i where to go with the lincoln fan,id upgrade to the 200amp alternator personally.
I can tell you now if you work your pickup in the hills,or even idle in traffic with an air conditioner, you had better keep your real fan in the bed so you can reinstall it if you use a taurus fan. There is a lot of difference in cooling a 300 pound V6 that never pulls a load and a working 900 pound block of iron. lol
