265/70/17 to 255/80/17 possible wo lift?

I have a 2006 sd diesel shortbox with 265/70/17 stock tires. I want to put 255/80/17 BFG KM2's on the truck. These tires are 2 inches wider and about 2 inches taller. Will they fit on my beast without any lift? (Also, 285/75/17's are available, will they rub?) Thanks for any input and pics would be greatly appreciated.

what width are the tires in inches you are looking to put on. Plus it depends on the offset of your wheel.

If I figured the metric to standard conversion correctly, the new tires are 33.1 inches tall and 10 inches wide (the 285/75s are a little bigger: 33.8 inches tall and 11.2 inches wide). I was going to use the stock rims. Thanks!

Something doesnt seem right with your math. 255 is narrower than 265's so they shouldnt be 2" wider they should be slightly skinner. They are taller but still should be closer to 33" which isnt much bigger than some of the stock sizes anyhow... dont think youll have any problem. You might be accused of having pizza cutter tires though. Last time I saw 255/85/16 they are really tall and skinny - I was going to get them. Should be the same as the ones your looking at other than the rim size.

I have ran 285 on 16in rim on a 2004 FX4 and now running 285 on 17 in rim on (2005 FX4)my personal truck, and I have 285 on 18 in rim on (2005 FX4) my work truck. all stock. Never had any rubbing or any issues. This is on 3 different F250 FX4 trucks.

thats what i was thinking 255 means narrower than 265. you would be fine then if you are already using265s
