Hey guys. I got the valve cover gaskets done on my truck this morning and it ran great. As I was getting on the freeway this afternoon it cut out but kept going. I picked up my daughter and and the truck stalled pulling in to the convenience store. I got it started, pulled up to the gas pump, shut it off and it refuses to start. Does this sound like a TFI module issue? I went and picked one up and could not get one of the bolts out. I was parked in the middle of the parking lot so I am having it towed. I have heard of a lot of problems with the TFI modules causing starting and stalling issues. The truck does turn over it just seems there is no spark. Fuel filter and both pumps were recently replaced. New plugs, wires, cap and rotor. Thanks.
you need the Ford TFI removal tool. which its just a 5.5mm thin walled, deep well socket that you can put a wrench on. pretty specific, but mine only cost $6 or so
did you get the cheaper one? or the Motorcraft part?
I got the only tool Napa had. It had a socket on one end and a torx bolt on the other, and a knurled round piece for grip.....worthless. I found a guy to tow it for cheap enough and am just gonna have the shop replace it. I have a unique work schedule ( 3 12 hour shifts on the weekend) and have to get my butt into work tomorrow, i'm already on thin ice with my attendance because of my previous vehicle, an s10 lol. I know buying cheaper vehicles you need to do work on them but it has been ridiculous lately. I invested a bunch of my fiances tax money into tools, heater and lighting for the garage and here I am having it towed but without a second vehicle right now I don't have time to mess around. I got one bolt out of the TFI module but i could not get the socket to seat on the other. I sprayed brake cleaner in the opening thinking maybe it had a bunch of gunk on there but no luck. Makes me think maybe its rounded off. I literally tried for an hour and then I gave up.
