You could. Or you could do it yourself. It takes all of 15 minutes. The hardest part about it is going down to the parts store and shelling out 4 or 5 bucks for the special tool that's needed.
I don't recall all the details on the TFI court stuff but I don't see a recall listed, I do remember something about them making it limited by the mileage.
I had to buy mine from the dealer, think it was around $126. plus tax for the part. Service department also recommends replacing the stator at same time, that was another 60 bucks plus labor for all. But it is running great now.
I had the same problem as Msloke had it. I need to change those parts; I have the "chilton" book but I couldn't find any information about the "stator". Can anyone give some guidance about it?
p.s. Bronco II XLT 1987 103,000 miles ( I bought it last February and the title said 93,000, by the way, Is there a way to know if that mileage is true?)
