Might be trading for a 05 F-350 crewcab 4X4. Owner says it has the Tow Boss package. What extra do you get with the Tow Boss over the standard F-350?
The only reason I'm asking is because optioned up F-450s are few and far between, especially since I want a crewcab 4X4 XLT w/ an 8-10 ft flatbed.
Will a 350 with a tow boss put me close to 450 territory towing wise?
I can not give you the actual tow limits, but the 450 has significantly higher tow limits. The oldest Trailer Life tow limits manual I have is 2008 and the 450 has a 5000 lb towing difference. I used the TurboDiesel Crew Cab 4X4 as a standard.
My truck is a tow boss and it has the 4:30 gears which bring's your tow rating up a few thousand pound's but not up to the 450 tow rating. my 5er is about 18k pounds and that's about the limit of my truck.
My understanding is that the Tow Boss package only add the 4.30 gears as was mentioned, but that by doing so it increases the GCWR up to 26,000 lbs, which is the maximum limit with a standard license.
Both my 01 F-250 and my 00 F-350 have 4:30 gears. Then again they are both V-10s. Were the 4:30s not offered in the diesels?
Is the Tow Boss only offered on the diesel trucks?
Doesn't the Tow Boss for the F350 not only drop the rear axle to 4.30LS but also the TBC in the dash and tow mirrors? Seems like there was something else...but I don't remember.
