Quick question and survey. How many of you pull big trailers whether it be a enclosed or a equipment trailer? My main question is what kind of mirrors are you guys running. I just bought a 40' enclosed and need to swap out mu mirrors. I hate the slip on towing mirrors. Should I put a set of west coast style mirrors on or what are you guys using? Thanks in advance!
West Coast mirrors work great! You don't necessarily need them tho, the factory "elephant ears" mirrors often found on dually F350 trucks work rather good too, just make sure they are mounted on the long brackets and stick out past the width of the dually's rear fenders - I'm saying this cause I got the correct mirror heads for towing, but for some unknown to me reason their brackets are rather short, so the overall width of the mirrors is right about the same as that of the rear end of the truck - it's okay for me as I usually pull flat decks and it's nice that I don't get hung up in narrow places, but on the rare occasion when I had to pull a big enclosed trailer I don't really see much at all in them. This here is the mirror you want:
I just picked up a pair of "camper mirrors" (like archangels) off a '78 chevy. They are going on the F250 when I get the time.
Actually that's just some random truck pic I found through Google. My own truck has mirror heads and L-bars just like yours does in that pic you posted, only the brackets that connect that to my doors are very much like them factory towing mirrors only much shorter.
I've got the same slide out mirrors SycoStang has. I don't tow too often, but they work fairly well when towing some fairly long enclosed trailers. (Not sure exact length of the trailers, they're my dads bosses)
