IDI project

I brought home my next idi project today. This will be a long term project it has to turn into an idi powered four wheel drive. I'm open to suggestions so lets hear them I only want to build it once.

Throw that body and box on a newer IDI 4x4 f-350 single wheel chassis.

It will be easier to put the running gear under it. I have already compared the frames and there is just too much difference.

Warroz I have wanted one of these for 30 years, but everyone I have ever run across was either rusty or no air or priced out of my reach. I have even tried to buy just bare cabs before and put one together.

Well it has the 2and 1/2 inch springs on the rear, so it will get highboy springs and blocks in the rear, and I will have to look hard to see if I want fab leaves on the front, but even if I do the crossmember will have to be changed up or swapped out, so I will probably graft a 79 front frame section that I have on it, then highboy springs will bolt on the front. Then the 460 has to go away and an idi with at least a ZF5 but I may be able to find a ZF6 and thats what I wan't with a gearvendor too. But I am thinking this will be the last pickup I wan't and a few years down the line I may want an auto so an E40D isn't comepletly out of the question, but I want a 6 speed.

wow thats clean.it must be at least one repaint star?
hows the interior?
30 years.better late than never hey.that's what having kids will do hey star.
D60 front.
ZF5.
4x4
BW 1356
3.55 LS
6.9 IDI w/manual GP's
dual 3" straight pipes
am i close?

if this was mine,i wouldn't work it,and set it up totally different.
like this:
any good running IDI
E40D
keep it 2wd (id use a work rig in the winter and keep this one good.)
3.08's
a good daily cruiser that gets good economy.

i dunno man.what ya gunna use it for? i hope if you do set it up as real HD work rig, that it ends up for all show and just daily road running.she's such a pretty classic.heck its an antique really.
i hope you use something else for off roading/snow driving/4 wheel drive mud'n.
nice one star!

if it was my truck it would build some beefy bumpers toss in a freshly built 6.9 with some internal mods, tinted windows, alcoa wheels, and a few more lights with maybe a 3-4" lift
just throwing a few ideas out there

More like
6.9 turbo (now I hve to find out more about the type four cam and the moose pump)
Zf6 I just missed s sweet deal on one.
Gear vendor
D60 front
either 4.11 or 4.56
Highboy springs
2 inch body lift
Late model seats
I already have a lot of the stuff, like factory cruise and tilt wheel, but sinse I have to remove the cab to graft the frame it will basically get a frame off resto and will probably be a couple years before I get it on the road.

Rupe I have the article on what you have to do to bolt up a ZF6.
John I will keep the original colors but it is long bed, 460 in it now it is supposed to run but I didn't even crank it.
