But that is just comparing motors. They are both great trucks. I am not knocking anything about the GMC. I think the indy front suspension is a joke, however it makes for one comfortable ride. The GMC feels more like a car/truck whereas the Ford feels like a truck! And once you tune the 6.4 it blows the door off that 6.6... end of story.

Well you are right you do have to tune the Ford to get the power out of it and once I added the program the power did pick up
So no program in the GMC and it needed a program in the FORD
And now I have to worry about my warranty with the program

And I know I am trying to compare a 2006 GMC to a 2010 Ford and that makes it hard on the Ford

The front suspension on the two GMs that I have had, a 2005 and 2006 never had a problem I traded the 2005 for the Ford
The GM had 110,000 when I traded it
As a matter of fact the 2005 that I traded never even needed a brake job
It did have a bad front bearing and needed the hub changed when I traded it in and did need brakes at that point
You are right the GM did have a very nice ride but so does the Ford
For a F-350 I think the ride is pretty good

Oh this is a forum the story never ends.......

Yes, it won't end. And I'm not helping.

You have to admit jsa, it's a mature discussion here. We are not slamming the GMC but we are touting what we like about our SD's.

For what it's worth, our company has had an '01 Silverado 2500HD, 8.1 gasser. An '03 GMC 3500 8.1 gasser. An '06 Silverado 3500 Duramax. And, we still have an '06 GMC 2500HD 8.1 gasser. All of them had over 150,000 miles on them, mostly towing miles. Never had any problems out of them except for the front ISP on the 3500 duramax. It just fell apart every 40K miles seemed like. Traded it for my '08 Ford and was completely blown away with how good the Ford felt after all those miles in the bowties. Loved the '08 so much we bought a second one. The only thing I miss is the fold down armrest and the seat heat.

I just wanted to bring up some of my history so that you know I am trying to be objective and not a Ford homer, though I am now....

And for the OP, no worries on the 6.4 if you follow the rules with it.

And posts like yours are what make this forum so good and worth the read...
But I will continue to post the facts as I live them with this new truck

The truck I bought was over 56k retail so I do expect alot

Thanks for your post with facts...

Not so sure now. I've had nothing but coolant issues for over a year. Monday their tearing the water pump off looking.

Keep the 6.0 until the 6.7 comes out. Better mileage and Ford will stand behind it for years as it's their own motor of course.

Trade in will be better with the 6.7 as well.

JSA, for what it's worth I'm not very happy with my ford either. But I don't think a GM or Dodge would make me any happier. You see, I don't blame Ford as much as I blame a congress that has let the EPA expand unchecked for 30 years now. BUT, i'm confused with you're case here. So please tell me, does the 06 Chevey have a DPF??? Cause I thought no one had a DPF until 08. If it has no DPF than any comparison with a stock 08 Ford is apples and red wagons. I think we can all agree that the DPF diminishes performance and fuel economy a significant amount. So, I guess the fair comparison is the 06 durmax with the 6 liter Ford and the 08 or later chevey with a 08 or later ford. Further, folks didn't buy these trucks to drag race, they bought them to tow. So don't ya think the right comparison would be to back the durmax up to the ford and hook up a chain and see who moves who. That would pretty much remove opinion from the equation. I have no idea how that will come out but I'm sure it's been done somewhere and that someone will tell us soon . Frankly, if anything pulls better than this ford I'd be suprised, but I've been suprised before. To me everything beyond towing is stuff that's nice and may feel good but has no meaning when you're trying to get a big trailer up to Estes Park colorado.

That would do nothing because the first truck to lose traction would lose that battle.

You do make a good point
2006 VRS 2010
Much of what I say is to correct people who dont know and to let people that are thinking about buying know what they are going to get
Dont rely on any of the big 3 diesel truck makers and what they say
I have had several diesels since 1997 and can tell you what the facts are as far as power Fuel mileage and how they stand up
I have owned all 3 of the brands
And I am not happy with this truck
It is a great looking truck but is lacking in alot of ways
I will keep talking in the forums and love it when I learn new things
I do understand that I am stepping on toes in here many have paid 50-60 k for a truck and now they find out it has issues
Thanks for looking
