And how much do diesel owners spend on exhaust, chips, intakes, etc to make it faster? That's why I lumped reliability and performance together. No diesel owner wants to own a stock diesel. It has to be chipped and have an exhaust before the owner feels like a man. lol
Well I have not chipped or programmed mine nor has my brother in law on his 6.0 Ex. My 6.0 has tons of go power and it tows 11K up 6% grades at 75mph if I wanted too. Stock, I have power in reserve for when necessary. I did cut out the stock muffler but that's about it, cost me $65 dollars. I know more guys with non programmed Diesels than I know with programmers. That's the great thing about a Diesel they perform great even without a programmer! A stock 6.0 will annihilate a 6.8 V10 when towing in all aspects. I don't have to lock out OD because mine can tow 11K in OD! Any way you cut it the performance edge goes to the Diesel stock or not stock. Reliability goes to the V-10, along with 9mpg's too!
Well I've go a V-10 and I didn't buy it to tow with, I bought it for comfort and style.
The most I have hauled in mine is about 850 pounds 2 fat women and one kinda chubby and to be honest with you I couldn't even tell they were there if I had ducked taped their mouths.

At least I didn't pay WAY too much for the diesel and THEN have to spend thousands of dollars modding it to get it reliable and to get the performance to a level worthy of bragging about.
Neither did I.
I didn't spend "way too much", I spent just the right amount.
And I sure didn't spend thousands modding it to get reliability and performance. Hundreds, yeah, and for performance only. The 7.3 was already reliable...as long as you carry a spare CPS!

There aint too many owners who settled for their gas powered Excursion who can resist the mod bug too!
I know I can't resist modding ANY vehicle I own. I even modded my Crown Vic when I owned one!
