I have been trying to get a couple of the guys around here that are driving Smarts to let me take a pix of their rigs on a ramp on the back of my "EX" so that I can post them here, but they all run away when the "EX" shows up. My SIL doesn't appreciate it when I tell her to just park her Scion in the back of the "EX".She just has no sense of humor.
I think part of it is because all the 6.0 Excursion owners finally know how to make there engines reliable and aren't having those same issues with coolant loss or blowing out the bottle. Eliminated EGR coolers are doing wonders for the 6.0! This equals less 6.0 posts, because there was a lot 1-2 years ago!
Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, got to spend money on the 6.0 to make it reliable, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah
At least I didn't pay WAY too much for the diesel and THEN have to spend thousands of dollars modding it to get it reliable and to get the performance to a level worthy of bragging about.
Actually, I'm trying to work a deal with a guy I know to trade vehicles straight up. His 97 Dodge 3500 ex-cab 4x4 diesel dually w/ 140k miles for my Excursion with 170k. His wife wants my Excursion bad.

You're the one that put performance and reliable in the same sentence, not me.. I know better..

There is a difference between performance and reliability! The Diesels out perform the gassers in every single category hands down! Now reliability? The V-10 is definitely more reliable, but a dog on power and mpgs! Actually in most cases the new ULSD is helping with the emissions issues with the 6.0 and installing a coolant filter takes care of the egr/oil cooler casting sand issues too. So your thousand spent really are hundreds! If you don't address these things before the HG's pop then yes it could be thousands!
Sorry I had to bring out some truth since your comments were not complete nor fully accurate!
I have been reading on here this week and have noticed the guys that were posting on here really heavy 2 years ago are gone. What happened to that kid that didn't even have his license when he started posting? I think he had a white Ex, like mine, with a 6.0L. He did all his work, he used to have a sig photo holding his exhaust. People come and go I guess.....well, like I did. Looking forward to catching up.
See? We're still here! This thread will make anyone seem right at home!!

And how much do diesel owners spend on exhaust, chips, intakes, etc to make it faster? That's why I lumped reliability and performance together. No diesel owner wants to own a stock diesel. It has to be chipped and have an exhaust before the owner feels like a man. lol

Oh it's like THAT huh?
Admit it, you would too, if you could.. BUT YOU CAN'T!! And if you did, it wouldn't matter anyway...
