Added some power, toasted my engine.

Yep added a new 38r, 200cc hybrids from swamps, itp regulated return, dp tuner, afe stage II intake, and gauges. Took it for a test drive and ran like a top. Made it about 40 miles and broke something in the engine. My mech is thinking I may have melted a piston. It is something with number four cylinder so we will see next week. He is going to pull the engine out and we will go from there. Hopefully there isn't any major to the core. Any suggestions for adding more durability?

I wish I knew how I'm flogging the crap out of mine and it hasn't flown apart yet.

Man that stinks. Were your temps that high to make you melt the piston?

That's why mine is staying stock. It does everything I need it to as is. I hope it's not anything to $$$$ Lot of engines going up in smoke lately.

I gouged it up to about 1400 and let right off of it. It was running a bit warm but I may have been into it a little to much.

That sucks. What kind of oil are you using, and the miles on truck?

I keep wondering about the oil. That should be a question on all the engines that have went out. I would like to know how many are using synthetic. Just me.

Hmm, have you noticed a lot of engines running synth oil and having failures? I haven't been keeping track of that when I read these engine failure threads.

I'm the odd man out on that. I've been running syn Rotella for almost three years now. And I've nearly pegged my 1600 deg EGT gauge... What can I say.

But your engine is still together. I'm just wondering what the % is. Nothing but wondering.

There's a high percentage of us running syn on this board. Kind of like saying people that talk on cell phones get cancer. EVERYONE talks on a cell phone. Everyone that gets cancer breathes air, too. Must be the air.

I'm thinking you might of had a weakened piston already possibly if it's a piston. I noticed you have an 01. Do you know if you have pmrs or not?
