So sorry to hear about your truck, SUPERDUTY. Bill has been discussing some of the data we received from the Engine Failure Survey with some aftermarket parts manufacturers to get their opinions about some obvious trends.
Hopefully, he will have time to post some of the conclusions soon so that this won't happen as often to other trucks in the future.
That's what I was thinking. How did you narrow it down to #4? Is the blowby bad? Was your chip reburned for the new mods?
The injectors were installed by C&C complete they are really good and have been in business for over 10 years. The chip was burned specifically for these injectors. It's hard to describe what happend, I was driving down the road and all of a sudden felt a massive vibration in the truck and with it felt kind of like a miss. The lower the rpm the worse it was, however, I could still build boost just fine. I was in 80e when it happend and immediatly shifted down to stock so not to make anything worse. It was taken back to the shop and they read cylinder #4 malfunction with the auto enginuity thing that the dealer has. I do believe I have pmr's but I am not positive. Just talked to them and the motor will be out tomorrow and we will see the outcome. Hopefully it won't cost to much $$$$$. The blowby is pretty bad I think. When we take the oil cap off it kind of just chugs smoke out.
From the sound of it I don't think it was heat related. 1400* is no problem unless it stays there for an extended period of time. Were you injectors new or used?
For the blowby, have you seen if the cap will sit there or are you just looking at the smoke?
I hope they are doing some diagnosis work on it before they pull it. Are you sure it wasn't just a bent pushrod, or maybe one of the injectors wasn't torqued down properly?
Did you look at the blowby prior to these injectors going in?
I hope they pull of the valve covers and take a look.... Anyways that sucks and good luck!!

I was thinking that it wasn't heat related also but the more I think about it the more I think I may have hit 1600 but I was right off of it. The gauges are new to me so that is why I am unsure. Not sure if the injectors were new or used. I didn't try to see if the cap would stay on or not, just going by smoke.

do they specifically work on diesels? All it would take is not tightening down an injector properly, it will run till it burns the copper washer out and then possibly dumping fuel right down in the cylinder...

I have pegged my gauge so many dang times at 1500 and I HIGHLY doubt that was your problem. For quick runs, it is fine, just don't want to heat soak the motor... and stay in it at 1500... LOL
