4x4 question
Hey all. I'm helping my brother work on his 03 f150's 4wd. He dosent have the ESOF system and currently the front axle is "stuck" in 4wd. When moving the TC lever from 4 hi to 2wd, the dash indicator remains lit indicating 4x4, and the front axle stays engaged. Now I've searched and read all about the actuator and solenoids, but my question is what tells the GEM that the lever has been moved to 4hi, 4lo, and 2wd? The reason I ask is because when shifting from 2 to 4hi and back no noise can be heard from the solenoids. Like the electrical connection is not being made. We checked the fuses as well and they are good. Also when going into 4lo, the dash indicator does not change to low range, it remains lit up saying 4x4. Is there a switch or something on the linkage that tells the computer what position the TC is in and if so where is it located?
