1.) I did my 2wd to 4wd with a manual transfer case. I bought all the linkages and etc for it brand new from Ford. I am finding it difficult to shift between 2wd/4wd hi and 4wd lo. When I installed the gate I tightened it down pretty good. I am wondering if it is supposed to be backed off some to allow a better shift with the lever?
2.) if I am driving down the road in the middle of winter, do I have to stop to put the truck into 4wd Hi or can I just pull back on the lever to switch between 2wd/4wd while on the move?
3.) Is there already a pig tail somewhere tucked up out of the way so I can hook up the 4wd hi/lo indicator switch on the transfer case so that the lights will work in the instrument cluster showing 4wd hi/lo?
It's not uncommon to have difficulty shifting between high and low range even on a brand-new truck. It's easiest to do when you are rolling between 1-3 MPH, I believe it says that in the owner's guide as well.
