exhaust questions

I wanna do exhaust on my 07 and was thinking 3" straight pipe! Will this hurt anything? I dont have a whole lot of money and I can this this set-up for $100... What do you all think i should do?

cats or no cats?? If you keep the cats I would say you would be okay....but if get rid of em...you will definitely have problems.

If you want exhaust, why dont you just cut out the factory muffler and install a high flow such as a mangnaflow or flowmaster muffler?

I had catback straight pipes on my 5.4 '07. It was loud, which I like, but it didn't sound all that great. The cats do affect the exhaust sound in a negative way. I have since replaced the staight pipes with flowmaster super 44s. They sound great. I don't get that harsh manly sound when I get all over it like I do with my '77 and its glasspacks, though.
