Yup,,,, use the tow haul mode but just isn't enough.... Getting tired of replacing rotors and pads..
stopping generates heat... either in the brakes,
or in the transmission... which one is cheaper to service?
banks makes a speedbrake that works with their IQ series
of engine monitoring, and tuners. i'm less than thrilled with
their tuners, and the speedbrake it turns out won't work on
the E series vans, which is why i bought the whole thing in
the first place, so i'm removing it, and going with a conventional
SCT tuner and matts tunes.
i do know that the speedbrake will work standalone without a
banks six gun tuner, but i can't speak highly of my banks experience,
so i won't.
I put on ART pads and rotors.
They are a LOT better than the stock ones.
My truck has a daily weight of 12k lbs.
I don't think Matt does a tow tune with exhaust brake.
What speed are you keeping downhill? If I'm at ~55 or less and tap the brake in tow/haul, it will downshift and keep the speed down with little to no additional braking. If I try to keep the speed any higher than that, I have to use the brakes regularly because the truck can't hold the weight back in the next higher gear.
Just be in Tow/Haul and set cruise for 45 (or whatever) when going downhill and you won't need something that isn't "approved" for a 6.0. It'll slow ya down fer sure!
