Been thinking of this for awhile but thought i would ask here for opinions. based on the truck in my sig adding a bigger housing what should i expect? seems like egt would go up and more turbo lag at low speeds. any more pros or cons. Thanks
It should help slightly. I already had the ATs compressor housing when did the 1.0 turbine housing, so surge was already gone. The two housings do make a great combo. Lowered my EGTs and gives a bit more whistle upon acceleration with the foil delete mod. I loved it until I did the swap to the 38R.
I'm lazy, don't want to take the turbo off again. I don't really drive hard, haven't felt the need. After being live tuned I don't see high EGTs. Mostly though, I want to use the money to buy AE. If no one buys it before RRE, I'll take it with me and put it on there if Nick will help me get the up pipe loose.
I have one in the classifieds if you are interested. $200, free shipping, and pedestal o-rings included. Good deal...
That's the one I was talking about
Laziness is the only thing stopping me as well. I also have a tendency to create/find additional problems when I start modding. My truck has worked "fine" for over a year so I hate to start modding again. I am sure my up pipes leak. How much additional work is it to change them when I am in there putting the housing on?
i may have one for sale too... i want a little more then $200 though..
it comes with a EBPV deleted outlet.. a WW and a stock turbo..the turbo was brand new from Ford...not a rebuilt..it has 4000 miles on it right now..i ran it with my sticks i have now..no surge and i could hit 35 LB of boost with no problems..(i dont recommend going over 30)..EGT's where good but much better with the 38R...my G/F and family bought me the 38R for christmas,,this stock turbo went from the truck to the bag then boxed and taped in the 38R box and kept in the house away from moisture...

Well that would be the time to do both of those things. The turbo needs to come out to do the exhaust housing, and it will be much easier to do the up pipes with the turbo out. I'm certainly not trying to pressure this sale, but I will say that I would be doing both at the same time. If I end up doing this at RRE, I'll be doing the up-pipes too so I don't have to go back again. Otherwise, I'll do neither.
I'm pretty much angry with myself for not doing this and the up-pipes last year at RRE while we had it out to change the turbo pedestal o-rings.
