The dentside forums have a whole thread dedicated to crew cabs of their generation, and numerous more pop up weekly. The bumpside guys also have their share of crew cabs, and both year ranges will warrant a lot of results if you search for crew cabs on Google images.
So what happened in 80-86? I know that crew cabs exist in our generation, but many of them are duallies. I've only seen a handful of single-rear-wheel 80-86 crew cabs in pictures, and none in real life. Why is that? Searching on Google images, the only one I can seem to find is a single 1985 F350, whereas there are dozens of bumps and dents (and 1987+, as well).
I myself was thinking the same thing. I have an 84 CC F350 4x4. They are rare, but they're out there. I've seen one other 4x4 CC parked a few miles outside of town, but that's it. It would be nice if the few of us that do have em could compare notes easier. I would like to find out what the interchangeability is between these and the newer body styles as far as doors and interior parts go. Any takers?
I just bought an '85 2wd CC SRW about three weeks ago. It has a 460 and BW T-19 4 speed. The main use of the truck will be to tow my vintage '67 Mustang race car around to the NW tracks.
It's very straight, no rust, most everything works and it's set up for towing. I would eventually like to do a ZF-5 speed swap and a couple other things but for now I'm just liking my new truck a lot!
A few years ago I went on a search for a cc only to find you could not get the combo I wanted. I was looking for a srw short box cc 4x4 but found out it was not made. So I had to buy a drw with the long box and the customizing began. 3 years later I have it closer to what I want but not there yet. There are a few pics in my gallery if anyone is interested.
This is one I sold a few years ago to a guy in New Zealand. 85 F350 with the 6.9 and C6. I added a Hypermax turbo system and a Gear Vendor. Sweet truck.
I just came across a 4wd '80-'86 CC about five miles from my house that's for sale. Blue & White, looks like it's in decent shape. If anyone is interested I'd be willing to stop and check it out.
