Wondering if I could get one (or more) of y'all that has access to a 80-86 (or sim) Crew Cab to measure it for me.
From the back of the front door, at key lock height, to the back of the cab would be great.
Don't need to get no calipers out, A guess with a tape is plenty close enough for now.
Don't really need/want the CC, It's just me the ol'lady and the dogs... The (dog) count keeps going up so they are going to have to move out. (of the cab) Except Hammer, he thinks he is the driver!
Gotta have the long bed!
I want to stretch my 86 anyways to gain ~7" between bed and cab for stacks... I don't want to french them into the cab, to much interior headaches and I will not have them inside the bed, so that leaves two choices, stretch and put them in between or frenched into the corners of the bed so as to not interfere with the 4x8 interior of the bed.
If I'm going to stretch, might as well go for the CC, it's only about a 20 inch stretch...
Yea, That'll be fun parallel parking at 175" WB..
Festus, I can measure any dimensions you need on an 86 CC, BTW, the front end parts on the 2WD CC are different allowing a tighter turning circle. You just have to watch what you are running over, particularly with DRW models. I found the difference from SC to CC to be 13", the bigger change was std to SC, 22" When I started my current project on mine, the std cab harnesses had to be lengthened 35" to fit the CC frame.
I know all to well about the turning radius. I have customed my cc with a short box. only had to cut out 12 inches of frame to do it. The bed even went into factory holes. It is fun to park .
Thanks for the 13" info ... With the 39.5 number I was given, I figured it was about 14".
Yup, Know about the 2wd vs 4wd turning radius, that is one reason I've been stinking thinking on swapping to 2wd, there are other reasons as well.
That is typical with most 4x4 do to the axle U-Joints.
Really don't NEED 4x4, just be nice when pulling the camp trailer to the snow or some of the muddy pits I've been to.
The only time the turning radius would be an issue is when trying to stuff a 40' trailer in between a bunch of others at the track or trailer park. I have faith, I can do it... Might take me longer then a short WB truck, but it's doable!
Thought about the CC frame, with the SC but It would have to be cut either way as well.
It seems frame stretching is the only choice for my goals.
So it's really a matter of the decision of what we want, then of course doing it.
I'm thinking we'll keep the SC, stretch it 7" and be done with it.
My son threw a funny one out there ... A DRW Rear steer! wouldn't that be something.
Not feasible though.
