i really like the new super crews but i cant a aford one but i saw an 80-86 f-250 i think and it was 4 doors. it looked great!!! but it looked like disel. my question is if there is an 80-86 f-?50 crew cab that is not diseal?
They are out there, you will have a pretty tough time finding them. If you do find an 80-86 non-diesel crew cab, it could have a 460, 351W or 300. Most government vehicles that were auctioned off or sold to whomever were the bone stock 300's. Look in your auto traders and search online through other used vehicle web sites.... it'll be like finding a needle in a haystack, even for the diesel versions.
I got mine used, can someone tell me exactly what Centurion means as far as specs? It didn't come with an owners manual, Just a CL (or LC) hood ornament and lots of deferred maintanence.
Basically ford sent over 1 and 3/4 tons crew cabs to some coversions company and they i believe shortened the frame and grafted a bronco backend on to it (the body i mean from behind the doors back)
Centurion also performed non Bronco (pre-Expy) conversions on trucks. That's basically what they are: a customizer. On some of the vehicles they left the frame alone and simply made a highly customized Ford truck, most frequently a crewcab dually. It was for the Cadillac Cowboy that didn't want a caddy to pull show trailers. Centurion made luxury trucks before there was such a market.
i forgot to say that the one i wanted was shortbed not dually. i asked a clerk from the city and he said that all 80-96 crew cabs were dually and diesel. please tell me he is wrong.
In the '80-'86 vintage, the only crewcabs are F350s. They were available with both single rear wheels (SRW) and duals (DRW). The SRW trucks came with both 4x2 and 4x4. They all have long beds.
I haven't seen that many '80-'86 crew cabs, but all the ones I've seen had 6.9L diesel, 460, or 351W engines. The 4.9L I6 was probably available also.
Short bed crew cabs were not available until '96-'97 in the F250HD model (last two years of the pre-Super Duty). Those two years, Ford also made a Super Cab F250HD with short bed. The short bed F250HDs had the 351W, 460, or PowerStroke diesel. They were also available in 4x2 and 4x4.
The Centurion 4-door "Broncos" were based on the F350 or F150 chassis. The F150 trucks were available in 4x2 or 4x4. All the F350-based trucks I've seen were 4x4, but they might have made 4x2s also.
For the record, if there was a question, mine is just an extended but is dually. And it probably was pretty nice when new, but she's been out in the desert for the last fifteen years, and I think they left the windows down for the last twelve.
