I've been reading a ton on here and I've noticed that most people tend to carry a spare CPS in their glove box. Since I don't have one I've looked at o'reilly's, autozone, advance auto, rock auto..etc. They all seem to sell them for about $25. The brand that most carry is BWD. Oreilly's has a limited lifetime warranty with it. Remember, this would be a spare for me. Does anyone have any experience with this brand and would it be reliable as a spare CPS?
I'm open to any suggestions on brand or places to buy a CPS from. Thanks
Well, some CPS's from such autoparts stores have been known to be bad out of the box. I would get one from International, install that in the truck and keep what you got in the glovebox as a spare. Be sure to put di-electric grease on the watertight fins.
I have two Borg Warner's (BWD's). One installed on the engine and one in the glove box.
They do fail but I'm not sure if the frequency is any higher than Ford / International or not. With lifetime warranties on both, and the ease of swapping them, it's not a huge concern for me.
