Exactly. So if you take care of your truck...ie wash/detail it every so often, reapplying the oil based products should be no issue. More to your point, if you only apply a few times a year and let it sit then yes you probably have a problem...but then again why put it on anyway if your truck is always going to be dirty.
I've never really had that offspray issue unless I put a ton of detailer on my wheels then get on the freeway. DEFINITELY depends on what products you use cause some really suck *****.
I'll have to try that Black Magic stuff as well.
Yea so anyway...back to 5x135 wheels?? haha
Yeah, you have to use it fairly often. I use Meguiars natural shine on my truck's dash and the Megs quick detailer wipes on the rest of the interior panels and apply it about once a month.
Also do not use any product made by Armor All. It sucks. I have seen quite a few dash boards newer and older that it ruined.

Yea, Armor All is horrible. Personally I think Megs is the best out there. Used their natural shine for a long time then decided to use their Marine/RV vinyl detailer. I use this stuff religiously on my boat and it's amazing. My boat is almost 3 years old now and the vinyl still looks better then when I bought it. I figured if it’s strong enough to protect the boat out in the sun it's good enough for the interior and exterior and exterior of the truck. I'll never go back to anything else. It's a little expensive but try it once and you'll understand and you don't have to apply nearly as often. Comes in a blue bottle.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>

After driving for about a week now on the Dura Tracs I can tell they're softer because of the way they drive on the freeway. In a small way this worries me in regards to how it will feel/perform towing my boat behind me in the summer. My prior BFG ATs were strong as hell. Other than that, no complaints. Guess I'll learn more about these tires come a hot summer day towing about 6000 lbs behind me
prime example of what I was talking about right there.. Mich and bfg for trucks is the way to go. You will notice a HUGE difference when you tow your boat...

Brand new for $75.00 each or are they take off's?? Take off's meaning they were purchased, used for less than 1000 miles and and returned for something else.
Thats a pretty good deal but then again they are "GOODYEAR"... LOL

Man....you really hate on Goodyears. Haha. Did they screw you over or something?!
I dont know if you already got them but BFG All terrains and Firestone All terrains are the best 2 tires i have ever used and i rate the Firestones a little higher, followed by Firestone Mud terrains. Firestone makes excellent A/Ts and M/Ts

naw I don't hate good year.. I think they make a pretty good passanger tire and the make a VERY good race slick. But for trucks, They are useless. Keep in mind this is just a personal opinion from my exp in the tire industry. Some Tire guys may say different but I highly doubt it.

Haha, ok. Well I'm waiting for a lot more to chime in confirming this cause this is the most negative feedback I've heard regarding Goodyears on trucks....and that's not just on Ford forums either. Haven't heard many others anywhere that feel the same way.
So, roblalanli, without talking specifics of tread pattern (A/T, M/T, etc), which brand of tires do you feel are good truck tires, specifically E rated heavy duty tires for the larger 3/4 and 1 ton trucks?
Other than the stated rating, what are the features that make for a good truck tire in a truck that won't see crawling or competition type offroading, but might see dirt roads, fields, highway, snow, trailering, etc?
Basically just picking your brain on what you're looking for for an application.
On the goodyear tire subject, I will say that I had a friend that always ran goodyears on his expoder, we both drove in the same fields in the same manner, but he managed to have his tire pulled sidways off the rim twice and had a limb puncture a sidewall once.

Anyhow, personal opinion respected
I'll say this, I value opinions much more by those who have insider knowledge and can give a more informed opinion. I like the fact that here, we were told "try this" in a tire store to show what he's talking about. What I've found on forums is always an abundance of thoughts on what to do, but most pull from personal experience or hearsay, which is generally limited or outright wrong. Learned this on another site when I posted an informational thread on how useless e-fans were and got killed because so many 'bought' the back seat dyno or advertiser claims. I bill 6 figures a year for my fan testing knowledge, and while everything I posted was 100% accurate, it wasn't worth my time to argue with those who didn't have my expertise.
So thanks roblalani for not stating flat out 'all good year tires suck' and making it appear you were a bitter Michelen/BFG dealer, as well as pointing out how to replicate your experiences for ourself. It's greatly appreciated.
