When I bought my truck, used, 5 years ago. I was told it has a Bully Dog Chip. This was confirmed to me later by a mechanic who said it came up on a scan. Where would the chip be located? If and when I remove it, do I have to put a stock chip in its place, or is there such a thing? I would really like to see how it runs without the chip in. Plus I'm gonna be working on tracking down an idle and acceleration problem and want to eliminate the chip as a possible problem. Thank you....Ron.
Chip is located in the PCM which is located down by your e-brake petal. If the plastic box around the chip hasn't been cut, you may have to remove it from the truck ! You might come up with instructions on how to remove it on the DP tuner site.
A chip plugs into the PCM. Remove the chip, and you're back to stock.
PCM is located on the driver's side foot well just behind the e-brake pedal. It's inside that black plastic case. One bolt on the engine side of the firewall holds the harness to the PCM, and two bolts holds the plastic casing to the foot well.
If you touch the PCM, DO NOT LEAVE THE KEYS IN THE IGNITION. You don't have to disconnect the batteries, but if the key is in the ignition, goodbye PCM.
