I know there ahve been a hundred 'truck won't start' therads recently but mine's a little different. I have the ZF6 manual so I have the clutch pedal 'safety switch' that may be a problem. When I turn the key nothing happens, the radio goes off and the dash lights die just like normal when you hit the key. The starter doesn't turn though, it doesn't click, spin, nothing... It acts just like your not pushing the clutch in all the way (yes I have it on the floor) but after a half dozen or so attempts it starts fine then is fine the rest of the day. Does the clutch safety switch go bad? If so why would it only di it first thing in the morning? Thanks for any input here, it hasn't made me miss work yet but it's getting close.
Thanks for the bump Miller!
I thought about it after I started pulling the switch out and remembered that the clutch came with a new switch when I replaced it last summer so it should be still working fine. It was nice and clean inside so I don't think that was a problem but I reversed the switch anyway so I don't have to hold the clutch to crank it. I guess I'll know in the morning if that was the problem or not. I took pictures while I was working on it, think anybody would be interested in how to reverse their clutch switch? I really like not having to hold it down to crank the truck.
Lol, just didn't want to start a pointless thread about how to do something that nobody is interested in. I'll put it up as soon as I get the pics off my phone.
