They are magnets that can hold in multiple degrees. $3.99 at your local HF.
Haha yeah those magnets come in handy. They come in a bunch of different sizes. They def. make things a bit easier if you are doing stuff on your own, and don't have anyone to hold something for you!
i don't know but the more i think about it, the more a big bumper seems to be counter productive, you build them for protection, but, what happens when you hit something head on, the stock bumper crumples up and absorbs energy, where as the the big quater inch steel plate passes that energy straight to your frame greatly increasing the chances of warping/ breaking your frame, maybe some one can prove me wrong, i would really appreciate it so i can get my build on ha

Hitting a deer can cause thousands in damage. My father has hit more deer than I care to count going 70-90 mph without even turning off the cruise control. Never a bit of damage. Now let's say, you plow into a cement wall going 60mph; the truck is going to be totalled no matter what you have on the front of it. It's meant to protect as much as anything can. If you're talking about a scenario that's so severe the frame bends, it's not going to matter what you do or don't have bolted on the front of your truck. Plus, it gives you room to bolt in a sweet hidden winch
Hahah if I hit something so hard that my frame bends...bye bye truck...ill be buying a brand new 2011 with a 6.7 liter Scorpion hahah
As for the bumper, things have been kinda slow. I have been finishing up my last few qualifications on some pipe and tubing, so I have been concentrating on that for a few days.
When I last left off I cut both holes for the lights, and cut the pipe, and made the brackets to hold my fog lights. Hopefully in the next day or so I can finish up the hitch and reinforce the rest of the mounting brackets and then start finish welding it up.
Well Gary its not really all that heavy, when I am all said and done I will weigh both of them and see what happens, it isn't that bad tho because I can pick it up by myself no problem. I want to estimate roughly 75-90 pounds or so.
As for buying a new truck, you can stick with your old 100 hp diesel all day long, hell I don't care if you wanna get buried in it when your dead. But as for me I am all about new technology, and if that means I gotta spend an extra 30 bucks every time I do an oil change, hell whats 30 bucks anyway. It will out pull your truck, and get better fuel mileage. But hey you can do whatever you want, cause this is America, and we don't give a crap!
HAHAHAHA yea i agree 100% the after market for these trucks is limited and getting smaller every day....
new trucks are stronger and alot easier to work on... u dont have to play this guessing game crap.....
but back to the bumper i think its gunna look great back in high school my autobody shop teacher had something similar on his 91 f150 except warn or someone like that and with the winch in it it weighed around 400 pounds.... lol
but the added weight on the front of a longbed 4x4 is great especially if its been lifted and u tow stuff
Ya I have a super cab long bed, with a leveling kit in front, so she sits pretty high as it is. I am not to concerned about 100 or even 150 pounds of extra weight. I am sure it will be fine.
As for the new trucks, I agree, I want one so bad! I think that pretty soon emissions are going to take over, and I heard that they are going to start doing tests, and if a certain amount black smoke (soot) comes out your truck will fail. So I wonder if that means if anyone with an older truck will have to do something to rid the truck of the smoke....like some VERY OVER PRICED UREA!!!
