You all just need to buy a jiggle hose and not worry about those stupid cans.
In case you don't know what a jiggle hose is, I'll try to describe it.
It's a lenght of 3/4" hose with a fitting on one end that has a marble in it.
The can has to be higher than the gas tank. put the fitting end in the can and the other end in the tank, give the hose a few shakes then stand there and wait till the can is empty. No mess, no fuss.
I've been useing one for a couple of decades, to fill all my mowers, my autos and a few other's autos, with never a problem.
Still have to modify when the temps get under 40f.
That poly gets stiff in them temps.
Going to have to buy a couple of the junk cans for summer to save the old ones for the snogo's.
Will modify them as pike has done.
Don't blame the engineers. It's all the EPA and CARB's doing. The engineers are doing what they have to do to comply...Some do it better than others, over time they will improve, but I still do not see these as a step forward in any way.
Well what makes me mad is it pretty much kills the capitalism of it all. As in, around where i live, there's only one style of nozzle from the same manufacturer that EVERYBODY stocks. Probably because they're the only ones who meet the BS EPA standards. So if you dont like that nozzle, it's not like you can just go to some other company and get another one, nope, you're stuck with it.
As I said earlier, I have seen a few different nozzles from different manufacturers. I can count 4 that I can get locally (that I know of). The only one that doesn't appear to suck is the one from No-Spill, but that is only second-hand from info I have heard. I need to get me one to see.
Just a heads up on this subject,But I am in the process of purchasing 2 semi loads of the old style gas cans in various sizes. As soon as they become available I will probably be selling them at your local car show, swap meets, etc.

I filled a 5Gallon one of these new style cans after my old cans neck got so old it literally started to split in 70F weather. So I bought a whole new can, and after about 2 weeks of it having gas and building pressure(The 5 Gallon is my back up for my 2 gallon. Basically I get 7 gallons at a time, use the first 2 from the 2 gallon container, refill that myself until the 5 gallon is empty, and then refill them both again) I went to refill my 2 gallon container, and pulled back the "safety nozzle" on my gas can and unloaded about 2 pints of gasoline on my dog. Who would have known the gas tank was so poorly designed, with a lack of air vent, that when you opened it up, it would literally force the liquid gas about 6 inches upward, through the nozzle, and shooting about 6 feet away.
Something to remember about this story is I didn't spill the gas, the tank was sitting upright on the table when I pulled back the safety nozzle.
On the new plastic gas cans,I drill a hole for a tire valve in the top near the handle out of the way.Fish it in with a piece of tywire.Take the guts out.You have a vent.Drill the hole on the small side, and it wont leak.Works for me.

I've noticed the same thing too. I have 4 of the 5 gallon cans made by blitz (2 gas and 2 kero). The two gas cans will puff up just sitting in warm air. One got some sun one day and I swear it was ready to explode (at least i know the can seals well). Every now and then I push the handle down to let off some pressure.
Personally, I like their spout design over the type that you need to push against something to dispense the fuel. Its handy filling up the weed whacker or chain saw cause you can slow the amount coming out with your finger. My only gripe is its so damn slow emptying it. I could empty my dads 5 gallon jerry can 5 times in the same amount of time it takes to empty one of mine. Really sucks when you're standing outside in 10 degree weather with a 20mph wind.
