Hi fellas, I have an 05 6.0 and an 07 6.0, the dealer claims the FICM is bad on the 05 so i was wondering if i could take it off of the 07 and put it on the 05 to test if thats the problem......is this possible? or will it not work? thanks alot
You could simply check the voltage on the 05 w/a multimeter. Its not very difficult at all. remove the small cover on the top of the FICM (two 10mm torx screws) You should see 4 pins, Then on the pin closest to the drivers fender test for the volts w/KOEO, You should be seeing 48 v. Make sure this is done on a "cold" engine.
NauticaEE, welcome to FTE.
as stated above you could just test it to see what volts it has, but yes you can just switch the ficm if that is what you want to do.
